Filters for AHU

The Air Handling Units (AHUs) are the heart of HVAC systems in civil and industrial buildings: they manage air renewal, purification, heating/cooling and humidification.

The filters installed in AHUs serve to protect indoor environments from dust, pollen, bacteria and contaminants and to preserve the efficiency and lifespan of the system itself. Proper filtration reduces energy consumption, improves comfort and ensures compliance with indoor air quality regulations.

Typical applications

  • Civil buildings: offices, schools, universities, hospitals, shopping centres
  • Light industry: HVAC systems in production plants and warehouses
  • Healthcare sector: hospitals, clinics, laboratories
  • Hotels and accommodation facilities
  • Theatres, cinemas, gyms and sports centres
  • Data centres and technical environments requiring filtered air and climate control

Customer benefits

  • Clean and healthy air in workplaces and public spaces
  • Protection of the AHU system from dust and contaminants that reduce machine lifespan
  • Energy savings thanks to low-pressure-drop filters
  • Regulatory compliance and improved indoor air quality (IAQ)
  • Optimised maintenance with fewer replacements and lower operating costs

Types of filters for AHU

  • Coarse pre-filters (G4, ISO Coarse) → block larger dust particles
  • Medium-efficiency filters (ISO ePM10, ePM2.5) → for fine dust and pollen
  • High-efficiency filters (ISO ePM1) → advanced protection for sensitive environments
  • HEPA/ULPA filters (EN 1822) → for hospitals, cleanrooms, laboratories
  • Activated carbon filters → for removing odours, VOCs and pollutant gases
  • Pocket filters and compact panels → for modularity and high airflow

Reference regulations

  • ISO 16890 – air filter classification
  • EN 1822 – HEPA/ULPA absolute filters
  • WHO and EU guidelines on indoor air quality
